March basically signifies spring in the beautiful state of Maryland.  Which inevitably means lacrosse in my World.  Coaching, Playing, Watching: it’s impossible to not love this sport when you’ve grown up with it.  I wouldn’t normally write a post just about lacrosse, but it’s my blog and I’m in the mood to toot my own horn a little bit.

So, for those of you who don’t know, I spent my collegiate career at Loyola (which is currently a top 5 program, and was during my tenure there as well).  And yes, I am still wearing my College gear – you got a problem with that?  Even if my unborn children play lacrosse for another school one day, I will always route for the Greyhounds.  Of course, I’ll cheer for son and/or daughter, but I’ll have a Loyola shirt on at the same time.  Go Hounds!

I’m also active in the American Lacrosse League, and play for the Mt. Washington Wolfpack.   The ALL is the largest post-collegiate lacrosse league in the country.  I’ve taken a more active role on the team, as far as administrative responsibilities are concerned, and are happy to say that we have a pretty good team this year, with a lot of new players.  Our first game was yesterday and it was a tough fought battle throughout the game.  We trailed until the fourth quarter, eventually tying the game with minutes left.  We made a stop while man-down and got the ball back.  With five seconds left on the clock we took a last chance effort and one of our long poles took a seventy yard shot.  I picked it out of the air (on the crease) and bounced it through the goalie’s legs tucking it up under the crossbar, with one second left on the clock!  Scoring a game winner is a feeling you never forget.

Did I mention that I’m coaching at a private school as well.  I kind of feel like it’s my responsibility to teach a new generation of young adults how to enjoy the game as much as I do.  Although the skills are important, it’s the little things about the lacrosse community that really make it the best sport around, especially if you live in Maryland. (Apologies to all my Long Island friends who still try to argue that their brand of lax is better)

So, it begins…

I’m not really sure where the time went.  I can’t believe that I’m thirty-two years old today.  That’s something like 11,688 days (including leap years of course).  That’s 280,512 hours!

Seriously, If you asked me where I’d be at 32 years old, I’m not quite there yet.  Shit, who am I kidding: I totally expected to be living on my private island by now, with little mini-mes running around. Ehh, C’est La Vie…

I’m in relatively good shape with no plans on slowing down, I’ve been with the love of my life for two years and I have family who supports me and believes in me no matter what, so I’m just going to keep hustling and do everything in my power to make a difference in the world.

I wise woman once told me, forget about the first million (that the hard one), focus on the second million.  Pretty solid advice if I do say so myself.  I think I’ll shoot for that second million this year!

Birthday, or not, everyday is a chance to start anew, throw caution to the wind, say “Screw It”, Kick Ass & Take Names, and ultimately live life according to my own terms.  We are not meant to be corralled into a life that doesn’t excite us.  We’re only here for a short time and I’ll be damned if I’m going to waste a second of it. If you’re reading this, I truly appreciate it:  I only hope that I’ve touched you in some way and I will do my best to continue to inspire, motivate, and generally do some cool stuff along the way… You know, the kind of stuff that most people don’t have the guts to try.

I started this post with a quote that resonated with me from the standpoint of “every day is just as important as your birthday”.  I wholeheartedly believe that: I most definitely do not take life for granted!  I am making a difference in people’s lives.  Every single day I have the opportunity to improve someone’s life with my message.  You have not even begun to see what I am capable of.  My goal is to find new ways to help entrepreneurs get their message out to their ideal audience.  I want to move forward, each and every day for the rest of this year.  I don’t want to take time off, I don’t want to slow down, I’ve lost too many people in my life recently and it’s made me realize that I’m not here long enough to slow down.  My mission is way too important to do that…

I will undoubtedly enjoy every minute of it, and keep you updated along the way.
