I’m about to embark on an experiment that I’m fairly certain will end up paying off for me. What I’ve recently come to realize is that I have been severely under-utilizing the potential of my blog.
I’ve been over-complicating things and thinking way too much about what makes a good blog and what my readers want to read. The truth of the matter is: I’m going to publish it anyway, so I don’t give a flying fig whether everyone likes it.
In fact, you know what?
I don’t give a damn what you want to read!
This is my effing Blog and I’m gonna write about whatever the hell I please. If you don’t like it, stop reading. I feel like my blog is just too boring and I’m really not boring at all. In fact, quite the opposite…
The only reason most people think I’m quiet, is because after I hear them speak, I make a conscious decision to keep my thoughts to myself. After a very short period of time, I am able to lump the majority of people I meet into the category of unimaginative, non-creative, and/or of no importance to me and where I’m going in life. I don’t mean to come off as a pretentious snob or an arrogant asshole, it’s just that my time is far too valuable to waste it on those who are unable to appreciate the inner workings of my mind.
If that was over your head, you’ll probably want to move along now.
For the most part, I don’t think I’m going to blog about helping readers with their businesses any more. I’m going to look at my blog as a way to further the conversation with truly interesting and unique individuals. That’s it, that’s who I’m trying to attract into my life and eventually my business, and I’m not going to do that by providing free advice to everyone and their brother. If I’m working on something cool and I want to talk about it, I will, but actively discussing business on here: not so much any more.
I know to the uninformed, this might seem counter-productive, but I have tons of websites (even more domain names) and I can put links banners and all sorts of other cool stuff out there for you to find. If someone wants to do business with me, they’re going to be the kind of person who steps up and tells me they want to pay me money or joint venture with me.
This is my blog and I’m taking it back.
In fact, I’m going to use this as my main point of contact from now on.
My new policy is that I will not even respond to any business questions unless you, or someone who wants to talk with me, comments (intelligently) on one of my blog posts. There’s really no reason to; I don’t want to do business with someone who doesn’t share the same passion for life or interests that I do.
Could I be losing my mind?
Sure, we all could be. But as my favorite recording artist would say “If we weren’t all crazy we would go insane”
I have a major overhaul to perform on this blog. Stay tuned…
