Procured from the mind of K.M.R, somewhere in the middle of a run
Hello Fellow Entrepreneur,
It’s been rattling around my head a lot lately that when it comes to maximizing profitability in a business that the best way to do so is to get an outsider’s opinion. Obviously, not just anybody’s point of view is going to add value to your business, so you want to make sure you’re getting advice from someone who knows what he or she is talking about.
Everyone I know who is successful has had a coach or mentor at some point and most successful entrepreneurs in the future will do it as well. Coaches/Mentors in particular have dedicated their time to helping you work out the kinks in your business. I’ve paid top dollar for business coaching (as much as $25K a year) and I know it works. I actually doubled my revenue as a direct result of working with my coaches. It’s not necessary to pay that kind of money, and I’d strongly suggest against it unless your business and mindset are at a point where you know with 100% certainty that it is what you need.
The good news is: there are coaching programs that are less than the cost of a meal, that will have an immediate impact on your business. I’m not talking about a meal a day: I’m saying, for the cost of one nice dinner a month, you could have a coach who knows the ins and outs of business giving you advice that you can implement immediately to see results. Sometimes, you need that extra push to make things happen in a big way.
The question is: are you ready to jump into the deep end and start seeing results?
If you’re working with the right coach, they won’t make you sign any kind of contract, and you’ll have no obligation to continue working with him or her beyond your one session or one month term (or however they structure their coaching). You should be free to leave at any time. Sometimes, coaching programs can last for several months or a year, but if the coach is worth a lick, you will probably be able to get a refund if there really isn’t a match between the two of you (assuming you actually are putting in the work)
You see, finding the right coach is imperative to business success. Being willing to open up your mind to new possibilities is just as important. The “student” should focus on distinct things depending on where he or she is in the growth of the business. Everybody can benefit from a coach, it’s just a matter of whether or not you’re smart enough to invest in yourself.
Unless you’re actively seeking such a thing, or you’ve done it before, the thought has probably never crossed your mind. Here are some things you’ll want to consider…
If you’re a beginner:
Usually beginners’ biggest problems can be solved by converting the right prospects into customers. True, they need to establish a strong brand, have a great product or service and have the basics in place, but…
If you ask beginners what their biggest problems are, you’re likely to hear responses along the lines of they need more money coming in the door. Whether that means, they don’t know where to find their market, they don’t have effective follow up sequences in place, they don’t know how to seal the deal or any number of other obstacles to bringing in more business. I can’t think of a single business owner that would turn down business if people with money were banging down the door: it may mean that more clients results in upping their game and streamlining their systems, but that’s a good problem to have.
If you’ve been doing this for a while:
Advanced entrepreneurs, who have been in business for a while, or who have reliable repeat customers are generally looking for new strategies that are results oriented, trackable and that bring in money faster with less work on their part. They’ve already gone through the start-up stage of their business and they’re growing by leaps and bounds or they’ve reached a plateau, either financially or emotionally. These are the entrepreneurs who are ready to shake things up and try really creative means for getting their business and their lives to where they want them to be.
If people already see you as a “go-to” guy:
For “The Expert”, it usually boils down to finding ways to spend more time enjoying the things in life that matter most to them. They’ve already discovered systems that work for them, but they’re constantly learning, and trying to improve the process; in fact, they have an insatiable thirst for knowledge and are always interested in personal growth and gaining greater perspective on their business. These are the entrepreneurs who can spend a majority of their time delegating work and get to focus on the big picture ideas.
The cool thing about this break down is that even old dogs can learn new tricks. Every new product, product line or service offering has to start from the ground up. Even the experts can go through the process all over again if they want to. We can all learn from people who are experiencing different things and improve our businesses one piece at a time.
When it comes to making a decision:
For beginners, sometimes just having access to a wealth of knowledge is enough. It helps if there is a structure to the system to help you reach your goals. Beginners are generally the most skeptical and most reluctant to part with their money, which, unfortunately is a short sighted view, because a hundred dollars invested in learning new tactics could very easily generate a thousand dollars of profits when a coach is present to motivate you to take action.
Free advice is great, but most people devouring free advice never put it to use in their business, so it’s essentially useless. I’ve found the only way to guarantee that you’re going to implement things that will help your business is to pay for them. At least that way, you have an established value and you want to track the results to see if you are actually getting fruits out of your labor.
Working with a coach is not as expensive as you might think. How much do you pay for your mobile phone? Would you be willing to pay that for coaching that could help you earn ten times that amount?
What about a car? That car payment costs you money every month and then when you factor in gasoline, insurance and maintenance, you’re dropping some serious coin on something that is not helping you make money.
You’re an entrepreneur, you need to be wise about how you spend your money. The best thing you can do is invest in yourself, especially when that investment comes with someone who’s going to have a vested interest in helping you succeed.
To prove it to you, I’m even inclined to make you an offer that you’d be hard pressed to pass up on. What kind of offer am I talking about?
